Report: Nehammer: Vienna, Berlin, Budapest oppose Russian gas ban

MOSCOW, Apr 13 (PRIME) -- Vienna, Berlin and Budapest stand against an embargo on Russian gas supplies, because the sanctions must be painful for Russia, rather than the E.U, Austria's Chancellor Karl Nehammer told CNN on Wednesday.

He said that the European Commission and the Council of Europe are discussing oil restrictions but gas is a different issue, because industry of several countries depends on it.

The E.U. and Austria want to end dependence on Russian gas, but it would be a gradual process, Nehammer said.
